A project on World War I
Eighth-grade students recently completed an engaging project on World War I, putting themselves in the boots of soldiers in the trenches. Students wrote letters as though they were being sent home from the front lines, describing the experiences, conditions, and emotions of soldiers at the time. To make the project feel even more authentic, students used creative techniques to give their letters the look of aged wartime correspondence. By combining history, writing, and creativity, the project gave students a chance to connect with the past in a vivid and personal way.
