Epic Reading Challenge introduced at the cinema
The Epic Reading Challenge runs from Sept. 15 through Oct. 6. The program aims to motivate students and help them discover the joy of reading. Roughly 105 schools nationwide are participating this year. Eva Rún and Blær from Svakalega sögusmiðjan (the Epic Story Workshop) visited the cinema to speak with third and fourth graders about reading, books, and the competition. Students even had the opportunity to collaborate with them on writing a story! The session was fantastic, and the students were genuinely engaged.
During the competition, we log minutes for:
-
All pleasure reading and nonfiction — both at home and at school — including actively listening to audiobooks
-
Reading in another language
-
Parents reading aloud to younger children
-
Teachers reading aloud during lunch breaks
