Community police at Austurbæjarskóli

Community police visited grade 7 students at Austurbæjarskóli today. The visit aimed to introduce students to police work, foster a positive image of the police, and share information about safety and prevention. Topics included electric scooter use, curfews, social media, and how and when to contact the police. The children were very well-behaved, showed interest, and asked questions.

We remind everyone that the minimum age for using electric scooters, electric bikes, and social media is 13, and that wearing a helmet on a bike and a seat belt in a car is vital. The curfew for minors is 8 p.m. until May 1, 2027, unless they are on their way home from organized recreational activities, such as practices, youth center programs, school events, or sports games.
