Inspiring a love of reading

On Tuesday, Dec. 2, the 10th grade class enjoyed an exciting visit to the Reykjavík City Library in Grófin to hear three authors read holiday selections from their newest books. Brynhildur Þórarinsdóttir read from “Silfurgengið”, Arndís Þórarinsdóttir read from “Sólgos” and Bergrún Íris Sævarsdóttir read from “SkuldaDagur”.

Students listened closely and showed strong interest in both the stories and the authors' work overall. It was a wonderful experience to hear excerpts from the books read aloud by the authors themselves and get insight into their works and creative process.

The visit sparked a passion for reading during the holidays among many students. We hope some of these exciting books will end up in students' Christmas packages — and if not, they're available at the school library.
