Icelandic language departments at Austurbæjarskóli and Ingunnarskóli

On Thursday, March 26, an exhibit opened at the National Gallery of Iceland featuring work by students from the Icelandic language departments at Austurbæjarskóli and Ingunnarskóli, inspired by the exhibit "Stattu og vertu að steini!" The exhibit — focused on folk tales in Icelandic fine arts — was open to the public for several days.

The student exhibit grew out of a collaboration with the museum's education department, through which beginner Icelandic-language students took part in specially designed visits this past winter. The visits explored folk tales and related artworks, and part of the project also involved sharing folk tales from different parts of the world. Students recorded folk tales from their home countries in their own languages and created artworks inspired by Icelandic folk tales. Students thoroughly enjoyed the project and took great pride in their contributions.
